Tying up loose ends.

I have been finishing old projects that have been left undone for too long.I am hoping it will free me up for new and more exciting projects.

One of these is a little bear. He is about 3 1/2" in height, so he is very small but he also has great character about him.

I gave him to a dear friend of mine the other day who needed a furry friend to cheer her up. She has named him George. So here he is for you to see.

Labyrinth

Here's the thing,I have plenty of enthusiasm and want to open myself up to a creative life, but I am faced with many passages whose arrangements are unclear. I do not know how to navigate successfully the intricate structure which lies ahead and it is nothing but a little overwhelming to this traveller.

I hope that the path will start to make sense and become clearer, that I will be inspired to go in a certain direction or directions that will prove to be the way to an expression of the real me. I think that maybe the whole journey -like life- will be one of never fully knowing what will be around the next bend and perhaps that is part of the adventure. Right now it seems so intimidating. The labyrinth is looming ahead, appearing so daunting and strange at the outset, but maybe just maybe it will provide suprises and exciting twists and turns that help me to forget the fears. Onward!

When I was very young.

It's funny what you remember from your childhood. I have been going through some artwork that my Mum has kept from my childhood. As I have rifled through my early creations I have actually recalled making and drawing the art that now, decades later I am sitting looking at. It's nice to think back on.

One fond memory I have from those days is the wonderful smell of a certain brand of oil pastel we used at infant school. I actually have a box of them now and when I open the box the scent instantly takes me back to being little again. The picture attached was drawn when I was five. I wrote a sentence about it that says 'The peacock feathers are soft and colourful'. Such simplicity and honesty. I hope I can find that simple joy in my heart and apply it to my art again.

It's a start!

After an inspirational conversation with a dear friend of mine this morning, I decided to or rather was encouraged to write a blog.Well as this is my first post I just want to welcome folk to my humble beginnings and scribblings. I am unsure as yet how often I will post but I am hopeful that it will become a useful accessory to present my journey into creativity and into thus far unchartered places.
