When I was very young.

It's funny what you remember from your childhood. I have been going through some artwork that my Mum has kept from my childhood. As I have rifled through my early creations I have actually recalled making and drawing the art that now, decades later I am sitting looking at. It's nice to think back on.

One fond memory I have from those days is the wonderful smell of a certain brand of oil pastel we used at infant school. I actually have a box of them now and when I open the box the scent instantly takes me back to being little again. The picture attached was drawn when I was five. I wrote a sentence about it that says 'The peacock feathers are soft and colourful'. Such simplicity and honesty. I hope I can find that simple joy in my heart and apply it to my art again.

  1. Awww what a gorgeous picture. You were clearly sensitive to capturing colour and texture even at that tender age. Its funny how the intense feelings of joy we experienced then when creating are so embedded in our brains... in your case the scent of oil pastels. How wonderful too to be reconnecting again with your young self and the very start of your journey. Looking forward to sharing the next steps with you too... all the way!!
